Roman mythology, or Latin mythology, refers to the mythological beliefs of the Italic people inhabiting the region of Latium and its main city, Ancient Rome. It can be considered as having two parts; One part, largely later and literary, consists of borrowings from Greek mythology. The other, largely early and cultic, functioned in very different ways from its Greek counterpart. From Wikipedia under the

Obviously, the "Three greco-Roman Epics"--Homer's Iliad & Odyssey & Virgil's Aeneid are all important, as is Apollonius of Rhodes' *Voyage of the Argonauts.* Probably the best book from Classical times about Greco-Roman religion as it was experienced in the lives of Hellenistic Romans--rather than just mythological tales--is Apuleius' *The Golden Ass.* All of these books… [cont.] Answered by snowbaal - Tue Mar 14 14:29:14 2006 What is the significance of the day "Wednesday" according to Roman mythology?
Q. All answers relating to the topic will be much appriciated. Asked by Ai D - Tue Apr 29 05:09:50 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The Romans called the day Mercurii Dies or "the day of the god Mercury." When the days of the week were translated into English, German, etc. the Nordic rather than Roman gods were used. So the day of Mercury became the day of Woden or Wednesday. In French, Spanish, Italian and other Latin languages Wednesday is still called Mercury's Day. E.g. mercredi in French, miercoles in Spanish. Answered by Thalia - Tue Apr 29 05:17:39 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Roman mythology" See also:
